encourages.me helps you remember to encourage people you love. That means you may store tender facts here — seasons of grief, illness, hard dates — about other people. We treat that trust as sacred. This page says what we collect, why, and how you stay in control.
Who we are
encourages.me is operated by Jonathan Franzone (“we,” “us”). Contact: jonathan@encourages.me.
What we collect
- Your account: email address (for magic-link sign-in), optional name and photo, cadence preferences, Bible translation preference.
- Your circle: for each person you add — name, relationship, optional email/phone contact hints, season tags, notes, key dates (including hard dates), optional photo.
- Product activity: nudges we prepare for you, drafts, keepsake pages you create when you send, and basic view events on those pages (so we can tell whether a note was opened).
- Technical basics: session cookies needed to keep you signed in, and standard server logs (IP, user agent) for security and debugging.
What we never do with contact hints
Email and phone you enter for people in your circle are only used to prefill your send actions (mailto / SMS / copy). We do not email, text, or otherwise contact those people ourselves. Encouragement leaves from your own phone or mail client, in your name.
Sensitive information about others
Hard dates and seasons (grief, illness, loss, and the like) are sensitive. You choose what to store. Please only record what you have a rightful, relational reason to remember, and keep it accurate and minimal. We use this information to nudge you — never to market to the people in your circle.
How we use information
- To run the service: magic-link login, weekly (or cadence) nudges, keepsake pages, settings.
- To improve matching and drafts within the product (including optional AI-assisted framing for light seasons only; heavy seasons use human-reviewed content).
- To understand whether the product works (for example, whether a keepsake page was viewed after a nudge).
- To secure the service and fix breakage.
We do not sell your data. We do not sell or rent contact lists.
Keepsake pages
Each send can include a private keepsake page at a hard-to-guess
link. Those pages are meant for the recipient. They are not
listed in our public index (and real send pages send
noindex). Anyone with the link can open the page —
treat the link like something you’d text a friend.
Processors we use
- Hosting: DreamHost (application and database).
- Transactional email: Brevo — magic links, welcome mail, and nudges to you (not to your circle).
- Optional AI drafting: Anthropic, when enabled, for light-season framing text you can edit before sending.
They process data only to provide those services for us.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is open. In Settings you can delete your account. That removes your circle, dates, nudges, sends, and related events; keepsake pages for your sends go away with the account. Backups may linger for a short operational window, then expire.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, note the change in the product or by email.
